V.I. Popov writes to the Commission on AI.:
In late September or early October 1977, I observed the following phenomenon in Michurinsk.
I came out of my garage, located near our apartment building at 1 Kievskaya Street. It was about 21 or 21-30. The weather was very clear, the sky was starry.
I stopped at the garage and began to admire the sky, and when I looked at it suddenly from the north side, a bright orange fireball appeared in front of my eyes, very pleasant to look at, with a diameter of about 400 mm. I observed it at an angle to the horizon of 25 degrees and at a distance of up to 2 km from myself.
This ball lasts for 5 minutes. He walked very slowly, and then abruptly increased his speed and almost instantly disappeared from my field of vision. I didn't hear any sound, but he disappeared in a southeasterly direction. He appeared in my field of vision suddenly.
