Amazing lenticular clouds over Iceland

This kind of clouds — lenticular, or lenticular, often mistaken for spaceships aliens, and no wonder — educated on the crests of air waves or between them, these clouds do not move even in strong winds.

However, there is no mystery here: air flow around an obstacle (e.g. a mountain) that forms the atmospheric wave. Climbing to the ridge, the air cools, and water vapor condenseries, then the process is reversed — the heating and evaporation.

This amazing photo was taken in Iceland by photographer Simon Can.
