An employee of the Montana Department of fish and game saw a light flying directly behind the B-52 bomber.
Using the scope to get a better look, he noticed that a strange object seemed to be moving near the plane. The object then briefly attached itself to the B-52, separated, and disappeared from view.
This fact was reported to Sheriff Pete Howard of Choteau County.
Howard conducted additional interviews with military personnel and learned that when the object was attached to the B-52, the aircraft's radar equipment was disabled.

A Montana Fish and Game Department employee saw a light flying directly behind a B-52 bomber. Using his rifle scope to get a better look, he noted that the strange object seemed to be pacing the aircraft. The object then briefly attached itself to the B-52, detached itself, and climbed out of sight. The sighting was reported to to Sheriff Pete Howard of Choteau County. Howard conducted follow-up interviews with military personnel and learned that as the object attached itself to the B-52, the plane’s radar equipment went out.
