Description:
The family was boating on Lake Taupo near the "white rocks". It was a bright sunny day and the sky was perfectly clear with excellent visibility with almost no wind. None of the witnesses saw or heard any aircraft or aerial objects in the sky during their stay on the lake.
A photo was taken of children being towed behind a boat on floats at 17:00. Later, the photos were uploaded to a computer, and the parents noticed an abnormal object in the sky. The photographer estimated that the object seemed very low and relatively close to their position. They are adamant that they saw or heard a plane nearby.

We checked the arrival and departure of flights at Taupo Airport on that day and at that time. Four planes landed between 16:58 and 17:16, and four planes took off between 16:51 and 17:15, including a helicopter. They were all small light aircraft.

Ufocus NZ comment: we checked flight arrivals and departures at Taupo Airport on that date, at that time. Four aircraft landed between 4.58 pm and 5.16 pm, and four aircraft departed between 4.51 pm and 5.15 pm including a helicopter. All were small light aircraft.
